Layer 1 encryption
Why encryption on the physical layer?
In times of increasing cyber threats and regulatory requirements, securing data at the physical level is becoming increasingly important. Layer 1 encryption takes place directly on the fiber and protects data traffic without any noticeable impact on performance or latency. This ensures data confidentiality at all times, regardless of applications, protocols, or network topologies, even with high bandwidths.
Optical layer encryption
Encryption directly in the optical layer provides extremely fast and transparent protection of point-to-point connections. Thanks to the direct integration into optical transponders, encryption takes place in real time and with minimal latency – ideal for operators of critical infrastructures, energy suppliers or financial service providers who need to transport data securely over long distances.
OTN-based encryption
With encryption on the Optical Transport Network (OTN) layer, not only point-to-point connections, but also complex transport networks can be operated securely. OTN offers flexible, service-independent structures with high bandwidth and is particularly suitable for carriers, energy suppliers or operators of large data centers. Data is encrypted as soon as it enters the network and remains protected throughout the entire transport route – even when using public or rented infrastructure.
