Why choose Oscilloquartz synchronization solutions?

Modern applications are placing ever higher demands on temporal precision in communication networks. While classic PDH and SDH networks had to be synchronized, Ethernet was long considered “synchronization-free”. However, with the increasing use of time-critical applications – for example in mobile communications, at energy suppliers or in data centers – the precise distribution of time, frequency and phase is also becoming essential in packet-based networks (IP, MPLS, Ethernet).

Oscilloquartz, a brand of Adtran, offers a comprehensive portfolio of synchronization solutions for carrier and enterprise networks – from the cesium reference oscillator to the compact Grandmaster Clock in SFP format.

Use of current technologies

Precision Time Protocol (PTP / IEEE 1588v2)
Transmits high-precision time information (frequency, phase, ToD) over packet-based networks. Particularly suitable for applications with high demands on timing accuracy – e.g. in 5G expansion or at energy suppliers.

GNSS-based time synchronization
Use of global satellite systems such as GPS, Galileo or Beidou as the primary source of time. For maximum reliability, GNSS receivers can be combined with cesium frequency standards.
